2002 began with an exceptionally warm spring. Temperatures, which reached the mid twenties towards the end onof March, hastened budburst by around two weeks.

Shoot growth on the vines was rapid initially until fluctuating April temperatures slowed growth to a more normal rate.

A successful flowering period ensured that the crop would be generous – so much so that we undertook a green harvest.  This means that we removed and discarded some of the crop, with the aim of intensifying flavour and ensuring balance in the remainder.

Sufficient rainfall and sunshine finished a year of some contrasting weather conditions.  Two vintages are not enough to determine long term style indications but we are pleased with the direction that our wines are taking.
